Chat and Video Rank Top for Communication in 2021

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in 2021, there have been notable changes in communication and collaboration. Attention is now shifting from the traditional face-to-face meetings and reliance on emails as the core source of getting the most efficient and reliable information to virtual meetings and messaging on Zoom and other apps.

While phone calls are still relevant tools in collaboration and connection with business team members and clients, they’re not holding as much relevance as they do before the pandemic. In a recent poll we carried out among our customers and partners to find out what is the most used technology for staying connected in these present days of the pandemic, the results showed that people were placing more relevance on virtual meetings and messaging than the physical or audio option.

From the results of the votes, 45% favored messaging, while 28% and 18% respectively were for video and phone, when only 9% supported audio conferencing.

What Happened to the Power of Voice?

Voice calls still hold much relevance to most people, as most people still use the option for sending information quickly to people. But, the situation will most likely not continue when choosing the most efficient communications in the face of the present-day global health situation.

Over the years, we chose different communication strategies as we deemed fit. With the advent of Covid-19 in 2020, there were no options other than to adapt virtual meetings as the most efficient and comfortable way by which you stay connected with friends, workmates, and distant family members. And, we now have to embrace a situation where no physical contact is a must to communicate and engage with one another.

To communicate in workplaces, we now need apps like VideoMost video conferencing server with messaging, content sharing, etc. With these apps, we can't only send messages quickly and hold meetings easily from the comfort of our bedroom; we can also chat through messaging as naturally as possible.

Communicating via these channels, using instant messaging apps, videoconferencing software, and social media is easy, fast, and more seamless. It is not only efficient for communicating between two people it’s also streamlined and efficient for group communication. The good thing is many of us are already used to the idea before the pandemic outbreak.

The Demand for Video and Immersive Chat

Messaging comes at the top of most people’s scale of preference when it comes to choosing the modern tool for communication. This is so for many reasons including the ease of use, ability to maintain an uninterrupted flow of communication in workplaces, and ability to determine a response rate by checking the presence status of your chatting mate.

Video conferencing has many advantages over other communication tools in that it helps in maintaining the human connection and offers more intimacy. VideoMost is equally good in video conferencing and corporate messaging.

Furthermore, videos make our interaction more human, bring remote workers and colleagues together, and adds contextual gestures like body language and facial expression to our communication. It also saves money, time, and improves relationships.

What Will The Future of Communication Look Like?

Companies should offer the right communication tools for their employees and make their communication experiences comfortable by offering them a wide range of communication options.

But company’s executives should endeavor to strike a balance between ensuring employees adhere to the communication options chosen and follow strict security measures adopted. This is so as multiple communication options and tools equals more risks for the organization when it is provided by a cloud service. The secure alternative is self-hosted corporate UC products such as VideoMost that is deployed on-premise.

As of the present time, there seems to be several tools and options of communication for companies to explore, in the future, it's likely ways of communication will grow beyond limits – something like a blend of virtual, hybrid methods will be other of the day.
